Our Mission Statement
THE LIFE AFTER TERROR FUND was launched and continues to be nurtured by a group of dedicated, young volunteers, including both native born Israelis and immigrants, who understand, from personal experience, the need to overcome the trauma of terrorism, in order to embark on a journey of healing every possible victim, as well as an entire generation.
HISTORY
Life After Terror was established as a direct consequence of the terrorist attack at The Mikes Place Bar in Tel Aviv. Its initial goal being, to help friends and family directly affected by the tragic events of April 29th, 2003. However, over time the fund has adopted a broader goal. Providing immediate financial assistance to as many victims of terrorism as possible in Israel.
To date Life After Terror has organized a number of global charity events in New York, London, Chicago, Toronto and Tel Aviv. In addition, Life After Terror was involved in the production of 'Blues By The Beach'; currently the only film documenting a suicide attack in Israel. The documentary has been screened in Israel, and was awarded first place in its category of conflict films at the Hampton Film Festival, in October 2004. It has also been selected to be screened at both the Serasota Film Festival in Florida, as well as the Berlin Film Festival in Germany in 2005.
These events all contributed to raising awareness of the plight of terror victims in Israel. All proceeds from the charity events, as well as a percentage of the film's profits have gone to the survivors and families of victims that Life After Terror strives to support.
Since April 2003, Life After Terror has provided financial aide for both the physical and emotional rehabilitation of over 15 survivors and families of victims - for many, the sole financial support they have received in order to rebuild their lives following these attacks. The rehabilitation has included the coverage of medical treatments and equipment, financial support due to incapacitation leading to loss of income, and facilitating leisure activities aiding the mental and emotional healing process of the survivors.
While money can never compensate for a life ripped apart by terrorism, it can help in cultivating a Life After Terror.
The number of people we can help, is a direct reflection of the support we receive from you!
Sincerely,
Gavin M. Gross

What
is it like living in a state of perpetual war and
terror? Israel is a paradise of sun and beach, of
splendour and history. Is it crazy to live in a
country where any day may bring death? Where 18-year-old
boys and girls are required to enlist in the army?
Where the mobile phone system collapses weekly under
the pressure of worried Israelis checking-up on
their loved ones? Israel is a place where daily
life is both glory and affliction.
Mike's Place is a popular live music bar on the
Tel Aviv beachfront. It could be any rock and
blues bar in any city, anywhere in the world.
Three filmmakers chose Mike's Place to show the
bloodshed and fear on news broadcasts is not the
whole story concerning Israel. People there still
laugh, dance and listen to music despite the seemingly
endless warfare and terrorism.
The bartenders and waitresses and their regulars
are the film's subjects and serve as guides to
an Israeli Experience. They are young, come from
all over the world, and live in this land because
they choose to. The ever-present danger does not
stop them, if anything, it intensifies their desire
to live life to the full.
